 Run Date: October 25th, 2022

PCs

Richard Lv2 Fighter

Rebel Lv3 Monk

Baldur Lv2 Barbarian

Dawn of the First Day

The session began with the dissemination of information. First, a few characters (both in and out of session) drew their lottery cards. One drew the Chariot and another the Hanged Man; the rewards being a Cathosian Gecko and 3 vials of a flying potion commissioned from the Khana. After that, the players went over the variety of news posted by the Riversmeet Review and a letter that Rebel had received the day prior.

The letter and its contents were the focus of the session. In it, the sender apologized for their previous conflict and offered condolences for Rebel's lost friend. It then re-extended the offer from the week prior. Rebel wanted nothing to do with it. At this time, Richard brought up something he'd heard from the Captain of the Guard: the call for assistance was newspeak to cover the situation at the Oldtown Graveyard. The Captain planned to organize whoever he could to mount a proper assault.

The party at this point agreed they wanted to do what they could to help, but needed to work out the how. TLDR: This session would be a bunch of RP and prep for the following week. First goal: Find some history behind the sigil in Rebel's letter.

After a bit of discussion, the party settled on asking the priest that managed the church across from the graveyard. They gave the guards at the graveyard's gate a wave and Baldur went to stand watch and chat them up. Meanwhile, Rebel and Richard asked Henri if they knew anything about what they were dealing with. The old priest was little help, but recognized the phrase "I am that which cannot die." He lead them to a secret cellar where ancient books were tucked away. He pointed out a section of particular interest and left the duo to their research.

Outside, Baldur was watching the guards build more supports for their sniper nests while watching the undead patrols in the graveyard. The guard he was chatting with shared some information (both already known and new) while pointing out some of the assumed lieutenants of the undead squads.

A couple hours passed, and Rebel and Richard managed to find some more information about their target. The being, according to a set of old historians, was considered a God by a local population. Their numbers had begun to dwindle to an unknown sickness, and the God arrived to cure them. As the population grew, their faith grew. As their faith grew, the God began to cure more than sickness. The historian noted that there were legends of the blind and mute being cured, lost limbs regenerating, and incurable diseases vanishing. The young would live well and long, and the old would live even longer. At some point, the population began to live even after death. As the population ballooned, many tried to flee from the growing rot of their friends and neighbours. The faithful didn't approve and a conflict rose. By the end of their research, Rebel and Richard came away with a single title in a foreign tongue: Lazarus.

Satisfied with their information, the duo informed the priest and collected their comrade. The next stop was the barracks to see about arming the guards with something better than some old gambesons and well-worn weapons. The party arrived as the shifts were changing, and Richard lead the group inside. They found the Captain going over a rough map of the graveyard and trying to organize his "troops" on a parchment. Rebel opened the conversation, and revealed that she and her friends (some now dead) were the ones delving into the graveyard and sending the reports on happenings further in. The Captain thanked her, and caught her up on the current plan: arm a bunch of people and kill anything they can.

There was some talk about improving the armaments available by making a deal with local weapons dealers, but the Captain revealed that he had no funds. "The Trade Council couldn't give a shit unless it was on their doorstep, and even then they'd probably just skip town." Rebel noted he could do something less than savory by allowing some contraband to slip through for a certain amount of time, but the Captain countered with his already threadbare leverage. "Between injuries at the graveyard and the festival, I'm already well under-staffed. They know it, I know it, and you can bet they'd wring out what's left." Seeing as there was little they could do, the party threw their lot in and headed out to do their own negotiations.

Next stop: Red Suns Munitorum. The display floor was busy as could be, full to the brim with traders, mercenaries, et al looking for some deals. Baldur took the opportunity to do some more shopping of his own while Rebel and Richard found a... friendly sales associate. Kyle, the associate, inquired as to the needs of the pair and soon found a private room for ironing out the deal. For the sake of space, the next 30-60 minutes involved a break down of supplies, costs, and time required for the commission. In the end, they settled on something akin to: 150 Ghosteel Bolts, 150 Ghosteel Arrows, 15 Shields, and 15 Ghosteel Spears. In addition, they wanted the commission finished within the week (another chunk of gold on top of their current cost). The party (Richard) would be paying the tab.

Once the deal was written up, Richard, Baldur, and Rebel split up. Baldur wandered off to do his own thing while Rebel went to hit up Arken (Baldur's first PC) about funding assistance. Meanwhile, Richard hit up the Tankard to see if Vance was around. He told Vance about the plan, and convinced him to help with the investment. Moreover, Richard convince Vance that this would be the chance to avenge his fallen friend and recover the shield. Vance agreed, and invested his recent profits into a new set of Ghosteel chain and a hammer. Note to self: increase the rarity/cost by another level or two due to today's massive commission.

With that, the party planned out their downtime: Relax, see a few shows, etc; then arm up for a big fight.
